🚌 The Greatest Mogger
Brothers, we gotta freakin’ talk.
A few months back I watched Marc Andreessen — billionaire, one of the most powerful men in tech — say his new life coach was a guy who sits in a backyard with a cigar telling men to stop thinking so much. I laughed. Then I looked him up. Then I stopped laughing.
The Guy
His name is Elisha Long. A quarter of a million men watch him. Sixteen hundred videos deep. He lights a cigar, looks into the camera and says, “Brother, we need to talk.” Then he talks for forty minutes about not overthinking your life, and signs off the same way every time: High thumos.
He didn’t coin the word that made him famous. “Retardmaxxing” was kicking around the forums for years — a crude mash of a slur and the -maxxing suffix the looksmaxxing kids use. What Long did was put a face and a fire to it. In March, Andreessen tweeted “Current status: Retardmaxxing” to a couple million people, and the backyard cigar guy landed in Forbes. That’s how it reached me. Probably how it reached you.
And here’s the part nobody expects: the man is a Christian.
The Words
Every tribe has its language. Here’s theirs.
The short bus. That’s the crew. Long tells his men to get on the short bus — the special-ed bus, the one for the kids everyone laughed at. It’s a joke, and it isn’t. Stop being the clever, careful man who never does anything. Come ride with the fools who actually live.
High Thumos. Thumos is an old Greek word for spiritedness — the fire in a man’s chest, the part of you that wants to fight and win and be somebody. Plato wrote about it three thousand years ago. It’s the thing our age has spent thirty years trying to put out.
Balls bigger than brains. That’s retardmaxxing in four words. Stop letting your brain talk your body out of everything. Scoop up your balls and act first. Think later, if at all.
And then there’s the one that stopped me.
Mogging
To mog is to outshine just by standing there. The kids use it for jawlines and height. Long uses it for something deeper.
He explains it bluntly. Two women stand side by side. One is super well-endowed while the other is flat-chested. She isn’t competing. She isn’t trying. Just by standing there, being what she is, she mogs the other. That’s it.
Mogging, he says, is the purest form of influence. Be, not do. You don’t win the room by striving for it. You win it by being something the room can’t ignore.
And then Long — cigar, backyard, short bus and all — says the thing I did not see coming.
Jesus is the greatest mogger who ever lived.
Be, Not Do
Sit with that, because it’s the whole gospel in gym-rat language.
You have spent your life trying to do enough to matter. Do more, earn more, prove more, think harder, optimise, hustle, never rest. And you are tired down to the bone. The whole machine of the modern man runs on doing — and it is grinding good men to powder.
Christ walks in and flips the table. You don’t do to become a son. You are a son — bought, named, loved — before you lift a finger. Being comes first. The doing flows out of it, or it doesn’t come at all.
That’s why Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, chased wisdom to the end and came back with this:
“There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God” Ecclesiastes 2:24
Don’t overthink it. Eat, work, rest, enjoy — it’s a gift from His hand. Retardmaxxing, three thousand years early.
And it’s why Jesus really is the greatest mogger. He didn’t network. He didn’t grind. He didn’t optimise His personal brand. He was the Light, and men were drawn or undone just by standing near Him. “We beheld his glory” (John 1:14). He mogged the world not with a jawline but from a cross — a bleeding man who did nothing but hang there, and pulled all of history toward Him:
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” John 12:32
That is be, not do, taken to the bottom of the universe.
Why Now
Look at men in 2026. Anxious. Medicated. Scrolling. Talked out of their own strength by a culture that calls it toxic, exhausted from proving a worth they were told they had to earn. Frozen — thinking, doubting, waiting, never just moving.
Into that walks a man with a cigar who tells them to stop, breathe, act, and rest in what they already are. Retardmaxx. Be a retard. Crude name. Right medicine. A Christian brother pointing a whole generation of lost men back toward the oldest news there is: you don’t have to earn your way into being a man. In Christ, you already are one. Now go stand in the world and let it see.
Retardmaxx, brothers. But the greatest mog in history came from a cross. Go and be like Him.
“I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled!” Luke 12:49
